Photoinitiator DETX is a high-efficiency Type II photoinitiator widely used in UV curing and LED curing systems. Chemically known as 2,4-Diethylthioxanthone (CAS 82799-44-8), DETX is specifically designed for pigmented coatings, inks, and adhesives where deep curing performance and long-wavelength absorption are required.
Compared with standard photoinitiators, DETX provides improved curing efficiency in systems with high pigment loading, making it a preferred thioxanthone photoinitiator in industrial UV formulations.
Photoinitiator DETX is an efficient free radical photoinitiator with excellent light bleaching effect and high photoinitiation efficiency. When used in combination with photoinitiator 369 and photoinitiator 907, it enhances the light absorption performance and improves the curing efficiency. It is suitable for colorless and colored coatings, inks, adhesives, and is particularly suitable for deep curing of thick films. It leaves no residual substances on the white or high titanium white powder surface after complete curing. The general dosage is 0.3 - 3%.
In modern UV curing systems, especially pigmented formulations, light penetration becomes a limiting factor. Photoinitiator DETX solves this by acting as a sensitizer in longer wavelength regions, making it one of the most reliable UV photoinitiators for pigmented systems.
