Vat Red 14 is a commercial vat dye used for producing deep scarlet to orange-red shades on cellulosic fibers. It is supplied as an insoluble powder and must be converted to its leuco form (vatting/reduction) prior to application; after fixation the dye is oxidized on the fiber to restore its insoluble form and excellent fastness.
The details below are general guidance. Always run lab trials and consult the TDS / SDS supplied with the batch before use.

Vat Red 14 is primarily used for cellulosic fibres such as cotton and viscose. It is applied after reduction to the leuco form and shows excellent wash and light fastness on cotton when properly fixed. Always perform a pilot test for blends and treated fabrics.
Typical steps: (1) Vatt/reduce dye to leuco form in an alkaline reducing bath, (2) impregnate/print/pad the fabric, (3) oxidize (air or oxidizing bath) to restore insoluble dye on the fibre, (4) wash and soaping as per TDS to remove unfixed dye.
No — as supplied it is insoluble in water. It is made soluble by chemical reduction to the leuco form during vatting. Refer to TDS for recommended reducing agents and dosages.
