Vat Red 10 is Pink powder. It is insoluble in water, ethanol and acetone, but soluble in xylene and tetralin. It is red in concentrated sulfuric acid and then turns to green; in dilute sulfuric acid, it is red; in nitric acid, it is red. It is yellow in alkaline solution of sodium hydroxide; colorless in acidic solution.
Mainly used for dyeing and printing of cotton fabrics, and also used as pigments for coloring plastics.
