Vat Brown 81 is a premium vat dye designed for high performance on cellulosics and related substrates. Engineered for strong color yield, excellent wash and light fastness (when properly applied via reduction vatting) — ideal for apparel, home textiles, leather finishing and printing inks.
Vat Brown 81 is Dark brown powder. Insoluble in water and xylene (cold), slightly soluble in tetralin (hot) and xylene (hot).
It is greenish gray in concentrated sulfuric acid and produces brown precipitate after dilution.

Vat dyes are applied in reduced (leuco) form. Follow your standard vatting procedures and controls — our technical team can provide example vat recipes and lab protocols tailored to your process.
Vat Brown 81 is applied via conventional reduction vatting. Reduce the dye to leuco form using your usual reducing agent (e.g., sodium hydrosulfite) under controlled pH and temperature, allow uptake, then oxidize thoroughly. We provide example vat recipes and lab procedures on request.
