Transparent Iron Oxide Yellow

A high-clarity inorganic transparent pigment optimized for coatings, ink and plastic coloration where translucency and tinting control are required.

Key benefits

  • Outstanding transparency and gloss retention in clear and translucent systems
  • Excellent compatibility with common solvent and water-based resins
  • Consistent batch-to-batch color — suitable for industrial scale use

Applications

Transparent iron oxide pigment yellow can be used in automotive coatings, wood coatings, architectural coatings, industrial coatings, powder coatings, art paint, plastics, nylon, rubber, printing ink, cosmetics, tobacco packaging and other packaging coatings.

Quick application tips

  1. Pre-disperse in 10–30% of system volume using high-speed dissolver for 5–8 minutes.
  2. Use a non-ionic dispersant for waterborne systems to improve clarity.
  3. Adjust loading gradually — transparency changes non-linearly with pigment load.

These are general guidelines. For optimized formulation, request our technical datasheet (SDS & TDS available).

What makes this pigment "transparent" compared with regular iron oxide yellows?

Transparent iron oxides are processed to reduce scattering and control particle morphology so they transmit more light in the visible range.
The result is a yellow tint that preserves substrate gloss and translucency rather than producing an opaque matte finish.

Is it compatible with solvent-based and waterborne systems?

Yes — the pigment is surface-treated for broad compatibility. For best clarity use recommended dispersants: non-ionic for waterborne, and polyacrylate-type for solvent systems.
Ask our technical team for the optimal dispersant and millbase recipe for your resin system.

Can I use this pigment in food-contact or cosmetic products?

Transparent Iron Oxide Yellow is intended for industrial coloration (coatings, inks, plastics). Use in food-contact or cosmetic applications requires additional certification and regulatory review — request certificates and test reports before acceptance.

Do you provide samples and technical documentation?

Yes — small samples are available on request. We provide SDS/TDS, sample batch traceability and can run small trial dispersions to demonstrate appearance in your system prior to bulk order.

How does pigment loading affect transparency and color?

Transparency drops nonlinearly as loading increases. Start with low loading (e.g., 0.5–2% by weight in clear systems) and increase until desired tint is reached — we can advise target dosing for common substrates.

What quality tests do you perform?

Our standard tests include colorimetric consistency (Lab values), particle size distribution, loss on ignition, and gloss/transparency checks in a reference binder. Third-party lab tests are available on request.
