Sulphur Yellow 9 is greenish-yellow powder. Insoluble in water, soluble in sodium sulfide solution (yellow in color), and dark orange in concentrated sulfuric acid.

mainly used for dyeing and printing cotton, linen, viscose fibers, and vinylon. It has a bright and delicate color with good colorfastness. It is often blended with sulfur blue (CV) to dye beige and green, and with sulfur bright green to dye pale green.
