Sulphur Blue 7

Sulphur Blue 7 is Blue powder. In the water have certain solubility. In concentrated sulfuric acid to dark purple, and Sulfur dioxide escaping, dilute precipitate; In the Sodium hydroxide solution for blue; In the Sodium sulfide solution for the faint blue or olive. Dyeing content in alkaline insurance powder solution for the pale yellow light olive, after oxidation can restore the original colour and lustre; In Sodium hypochlorite solution completely fade. Available insurance powder dyeing.

Technical & Application Notes

Sulfur dyes require a two-stage approach: reduction to the soluble leuco form, exhaustion onto the fiber, then careful oxidation to regenerate the insoluble dye inside the fiber matrix. Correct control of reduction level and oxidation ensures optimal wash and rub fastness.

Suggested industrial workflow (reference)

  • Pre-wet goods and adjust liquor ratio per mill practice.
  • Reduce the sulfur dye to its leuco form using suitable reducing agents under alkaline conditions.
  • Exhaust reduced dye onto goods with uniform agitation.
  • Oxidize completely (air or controlled oxidizer), followed by rinsing and neutralization.

Troubleshooting

  • Patchy dyeing: check mechanical circulation and reduction uniformity.
  • Faded shades after wash: ensure oxidation step is complete; consider post-fix or improving rinsing.
  • High deposits: optimize reducing agent dosage and ensure sufficient wetting agents/dispersants.

Applications:

Sulphur Blue 7 Mainly used for cotton, hemp, viscose fabric dyeing, and can also be used to top and viscose fiber protoplasmic coloring. Sometimes also used in leather and paper dyeing.
