Why choose Solvent Red 109?

  • Vivid red shades: strong chroma with consistent hue across batches.
  • Excellent solubility: works well in aromatic/aliphatic solvents, ketones and esters.
  • High tinting strength: low addition rates required to reach target shades.
  • Good formulation flexibility: suitable for inks, coatings, plastisol and select plastics.
  • Available in multiple forms: powder, granules, and pre-dispersed liquid.

Typical Applications

Solvent Red 109 is commonly used in:

  • Solvent-based printing inks (flexographic, gravure, screen)
  • Coatings & lacquer systems
  • Plastics (where solvent dyes are applicable)
  • Specialty adhesives and sealants
  • Candle and wax tinting (in applicable carrier systems)

Formulation & Use Tips

  • Pre-dissolve powder grades in a small volume of solvent, then add to main batch to avoid clumping.
  • Use filtration after solution to remove undissolved grit where required for print applications.
  • For improved migration resistance in plastics, assess compatibility with polymer matrix and perform ageing tests.
  • Start with low additions and increase gradually to match target color and hiding power.
