Polyaluminum chloride

Introduction:

PAC is an ether derivatives of natural cellulose after chemical modification.it is a kind of water-soluble glues, both in cold and hot water with the features of bonding, thickening, emulsification, dispersion, suspension, stability, film, and so on.

Advantages:

  • ‍As drilling mud agent, PAC has a good resistance to salt, high temperature and filtration, it can be used for the preparation of the various kinds of drilling fluid and for the maintenance of drilling to improve fluid performance.
  • As oil fracturing, it improves the suspended-sand performance ,reduces filtration and frictional resistance and makes pressure transfer effectively.‍

Applications:

1. Water treatment field

Polyaluminium chloride has the most extensive application in water treatment, especially for the purification of drinking water, sewage, and industrial wastewater. Due to its excellent flocculation performance and low usage cost, polyaluminium chloride is widely used in water quality treatment such as urban water supply, industrial wastewater, domestic sewage, and river water.

Application methods:

  • ‍Drinking water treatment: As a flocculant, polyaluminium chloride can effectively remove suspended solids, colloidal particles, heavy metal ions, and other harmful substances in water. Its advantage is that the flocculation effect is significant and can achieve good treatment results at a low dosage.
  • Wastewater treatment: Polyaluminium chloride is used to remove harmful substances in industrial wastewater and domestic sewage, such as oil, dyes, petroleum substances, and other organic pollutants. Due to its efficient removal capacity, polyaluminium chloride is often used as a flocculant together with other water treatment agents (such as coagulants, flocculation aids).
  • River water treatment: In cases of water body eutrophication and deteriorated water quality, polyaluminium chloride can be used to treat water blooms and harmful substances in river water, improving the water quality.‍

2. Industrial wastewater treatment

In many industrial production processes, wastewater often contains a large amount of suspended solids, oil, heavy metal ions, and other pollutants. Traditional chemical treatment methods often fail to meet environmental protection requirements. Polyaluminium chloride, as a powerful flocculant, is widely used in the treatment of industrial wastewater.

Application methods:

  • ‍Pulp and paper industry: In pulp and paper wastewater treatment, polyaluminium chloride can effectively remove suspended solids, paper pulp fibers, and surface active agents from water, reducing COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) and BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand).
  • Chemical industry: In chemical production processes, wastewater often contains acids, bases, salts, and metal ions, and polyaluminium chloride can effectively remove these pollutants through flocculation, reducing water pollution.
  • Food industry: For example, in the wastewater treatment of sugar factories and wineries, polyaluminium chloride can remove suspended solids, color, and oils.‍

3. Paper production

In the paper production process, polyaluminium chloride can not only be used as a flocculant for wastewater treatment, but also for the purification of pulp and wastewater recycling in the production process.

4. Food and beverage industry

The application of polyaluminium chloride in the food and beverage industry mainly lies in clarifying and removing insoluble substances, especially in the production of juices, beverages, and other liquid foods.

Application methods:

  • ‍Juice clarification: In the production of juices, polyaluminium chloride can be used to remove suspended particles, turbidity, and some dissolved substances from juice, making the juice more transparent.
  • Beverage purification: Polyaluminium chloride is used for clarification treatment of beverages to remove impurities and pigments, improving the appearance and taste of beverages.‍

5. Agricultural field

The application of polyaluminium chloride in agriculture mainly lies in soil improvement and irrigation water purification.

Application methods:

  • ‍Soil improvement: Polyaluminium chloride can be used for acidification regulation of agricultural soil. By adjusting the pH of the soil, it improves the growth environment of crops and increases crop yields.
  • Irrigation water purification: In irrigation water treatment, polyaluminium chloride can effectively remove suspended solids and bacteria from water, ensuring the cleanliness of irrigation water.‍

6. Petrochemical field

In the petrochemical field, polyaluminium chloride is widely used in the petroleum refining process to remove impurities and moisture from oil products, improving the quality of petroleum.

Application methods:

Petroleum dehydration: Polyaluminium chloride can be used for dehydration of petroleum products to remove moisture from oil products, improving the quality of the products.
