Micronized Iron Oxide Black 318M is from yellowish red power to bluish red power pigment. They own much fine particle size, more bright color, superior dispersibility, better color consistency, excellent resistance to color change and higher tinting strength.
micronized iron oxide red is widely used in coil coatings,corrosion protection,decorative paintings,plastic products,colored plastics,master batches,power coatings,emulsion paintings,flooring,industrial coatings,paints and coatings,plastic coatings,roof tile coating,wood plastic composites,printing inks,papers.
Typical loading depends on application: coatings 1–6% w/w, plastics 0.5–3% w/w, inks 1–8% w/w. For masterbatch, start with a 10–30% concentrate and evaluate dispersion quality.
Use standard dust control measures. Avoid inhalation of fine dust; wear appropriate PPE. See the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for full hazard and handling information.

For solvent-based systems, pre-wet the pigment with a low-viscosity glycol ether or ketone carrier and mill using a bead mill to reach a Hegman grind of ≥6 (or your target). Start with 5–8% pigment in the grind vehicle, then adjust let-down to final formulation. Use high-shear milling for best color strength.
318M exhibits good compatibility with both polyolefins and PVC. For critical applications (food-contact or medical), run migration and extractables tests for the specific polymer system; use a stabilized masterbatch and antioxidants as required to limit any potential degradation.
Typical thermal stability is adequate up to 280°C for short residence times (thermoplastics). For prolonged high-temperature processing, validate with your exact cycle; minor shade shift may appear above 300°C.
The micronized grade offers finer particle size (D50 ≈1 µm) which increases tint strength, improves dispersion homogeneity and reduces visible grit in thin films. That typically results in deeper shade and smoother surface appearance compared to coarser grades.
