Technical Advice — Dispersion & Compatibility

Iron Oxide Brown 686 disperses well in both solvent-borne and waterborne systems when appropriate dispersants and milling energy are used. For high-gloss coatings use a high-speed bead mill with 0.6–1.0 mm beads; in plastic masterbatches consider pre-drying and compatibilizers to reduce specking.

  • Recommended grind: specific surface area control to match gloss targets.
  • Stain & gloss control: adjust pigment-to-binder ratio; use rheology modifiers as needed.
  • Concrete pigmentation: use at dry dosage rates and check alkali resistance in long-term tests.
