Optical brightener SWN is soluble in ethanol and ethylene glycol, soluble in acidic aqueous solutions, and soluble in resins, varnishes, and some organic solvents. Its solubility in water is only 0.006%. Do not use in one bath with Sodium Chlorite.

Common Application and Recommend Dosage
- In whitening and brightening of wool, silk, acetate fiber, triacetate fiber, etc.
- Dosage: Chinlon:0.05-0.3%, wool: 0.05-0.35%, acetate fiber: 0.05-1.4%, Triacetate fiber: 0.1-2%, Acrylic fiber: 0.05-0.8%.
- Mix it with sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid to form a salt, or mix it with organic acids (such as tartaric acid, citric acid, and oxalic acid), or add a solvent to increase solubility and a dispersant to make a solution for applications. Add it to textiles to give a reddish-violet shade.
- Also can be used in cotton, plastic, and chromatically pressed paint and added into resin to whiten the fiber cellulose.
- Add in detergent to improve the whiteness of washed fabrics. Active with pH: 3-11.
- optical brightener SWN is also a common laser dye.
