Direct Violet 12

Direct Violet 12 alias direct Qinglian R, direct snow blue R, direct red light green lotus. Appearance is generally dark brown powder, poor water solubility, sensitive to hard water. Dissolved in water is purple black, soluble in alcohol is magenta. It is dark blue in concentrated sulfuric acid, and turns dark purple after dilution. Its aqueous solution is concentrated with hydrochloric acid to have a purple-red to purple-black precipitate, and concentrated sodium hydroxide has a purple-black precipitate.

Application and  Use condition:

1. It has been used to dye cotton or viscose fiber to get reddish purple. If diazotized, it can be red-colored navy with 2-naphthol. The dyeing rate is good, the dyeability is poor, and the dyeing is suitable. Slowly heat up and add salt to control the dyeing, and obtain uniform color. After dyeing, the dyeing solution should be naturally cooled to 80 °C, which is good for dye exhaustion.

2. It has also been used to dye rich fiber, the dyeing rate is very good, but the color is slightly yellower than dyed cotton. It has also been used for dyeing or printing silk and its fabric. Because it is slightly sensitive to hard water, it should be dyed. Soft water is used. The dyed vinyl fabric is bright red, the dyeing rate is poor, the dye dosage is more than 1%, and the color depth is hardly increased. When cotton, viscose fiber and other fibers are dyed in the same bath, silk, wool and nylon are better than cotton. The viscose fiber is light and yellow, the second vinegar fiber is stained, and the polyester and acrylic fibers are slightly stained.

3. It is generally not used for cotton printing. It has been used for the printing of silk fabrics, plus urea and disodium hydrogen phosphate.

4. It has been mainly used for dyeing viscose fabrics. It has also been used to dye viscose fibers with blends of silk and nylon.

Precautions

Direct Violet 12 can be decomposed out of benzidine, which is a banned dye. The alternative dye is C.I.Direct Violet 47.

FAQ

What types of fabrics are best suited for Direct Violet 12?

Direct Violet 12 works exceptionally well on natural cellulosic fibers such as cotton, viscose, and rayon. It provides deep, uniform color penetration, especially for high-quality textile products.

How can I ensure maximum color fastness when using Direct Violet 12?

To achieve optimal wash and light fastness, maintain proper dye concentration, control dye bath pH between 4.5-6.0, and follow recommended fixation techniques like cold pad-batch or high-temperature dyeing.

Is Direct Violet 12 suitable for textile printing?

Yes, it can be used in direct printing methods as well as continuous dyeing. Its high solubility ensures smooth application and even color distribution across fabrics.

Can Direct Violet 12 be blended with other dyes?

It is compatible with many direct dyes to create custom shades. However, compatibility tests are recommended to prevent unexpected color shifts or fastness issues.

What makes Direct Violet 12 preferable over other violet dyes?

Direct Violet 12 combines bright hue, excellent fastness, and easy application, making it ideal for commercial textile production where color consistency and performance are critical.
