Direct Blue 86 liquid

Direct Blue 86 liquid is the aqueous form of a copper phthalocyanine (phthalocyanine-type) direct dye widely used for dyeing cotton and viscose and for selected paper and printing applications. Its copper-based chromophore gives particularly stable blue/turquoise shades and excellent shade permanence under normal processing conditions.

Performance & compatibility notes

  • Shows very good levelling on cotton when used in salt-assisted exhaust recipes; optimize salt/alkali per your mill practice.
  • Fastness: generally superior shade stability vs many azo direct dyes, but evaluate wash/light fastness for end-use requirements.
  • Shade may be influenced by water hardness and metal ions—always run lab checks with your process water.
  • Avoid strong oxidizers in the dye bath; follow SDS for safe handling and spill response.

Laboratory & scale-up guidance

  1. Start with lab-scale trials (1–5 g/L liquor ratio) and incrementally dose to match the target shade.
  2. Scale-up allowance: account for machine losses and exhaustion characteristics; typically allow an adjustment when moving from lab to production.
  3. Optimize salt, wetting agents and leveling auxiliaries for uniform exhaustion on cotton.
  4. Assess wash and light fastness; copper phthalocyanines often show superior stability but validate for your specification.
