Acid Red 336

Acid Red 336 (C.I. Acid Red 336, CAS 12239-11-1) is a water-soluble monoazo/azo acid dye that yields bluish-red to wine-red aqueous shades. It is supplied as a dark red/bluish-red powder and is commonly used for dyeing protein and polyamide fibres (wool, silk, nylon) and for leather, ink and paint applications due to good dispersion and reproducibility.

TRADE NAME:Acid Red MS-R,Red N-2RBL,Weak acid red MF-2BL

Appearance is dark red powder. Soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, red sauce. Dark blue in concentrated sulfuric acid, red wine after dilution. Aqueous solution is wine red, hydrochloric acid is reddish brown; sodium hydroxide is red sauce .

Key features

  • Physical form: dark red / bluish-red powder, water-soluble in standard dye baths
  • Chemical class: monoazo (azo) acid dye suitable for acid dyeing processes
  • Primary applications: wool, silk, nylon, leather; also used in inks and paints
  • Good dyeing uniformity and compatibility with common acid dye auxiliaries
  • Fastness profile: generally good light fastness and perspiration/seawater fastness; washing fastness moderate to good (industry reports vary by substrate and recipe)
  • Typical shade: bluish-red / wine red; shows different tones depending on concentration and pH
  • Handling: supplied as a powdered dye; standard precautions for powders and industrial dyes apply

Application:

Mainly used for sea of target that fluorescent, facilitate aerial reconnaissance search. And can use significantly for the exploration of fluorescent groundwater. Can also be used for medicine and cosmetics shading, rarely used for silk printing and dyeing things.

Acid Red 336 Use condition:

  • ‍1. Mainly used for dyeing wool yarn and rubber, also suitable for dyeing and printing silk and nylon.
  • 2. Wool dyeing should be carried out in a weak acid bath. The pH of the dyeing bath can be adjusted to 4.5~5.0 with acetic acid and sodium acetate. When the wool is dyed in the same bath with various fibers, the apparent color of nylon is slightly darker than wool, and the silk is lighter, polyester. The acrylic fiber is stained and the triacetate fiber is not stained.
  • 3. Sandolan Red MF-2BL is one of the three primary colors. It is mixed with Sandolan Golden MF-RL and Sandolan Blue MF-GL to dye a wide range of colors.
  • 4. SandolanRed MF-2BL When dyeing nylon products, it should be used alone or mainly as a red color.

FAQ

What fastness levels can I expect with Acid Red 336?

Reported fastness varies with substrate and recipe, but typical supplier data indicate good light fastness (often ISO 5–6) and moderate to good wash fastness (often ISO 4–5) when properly fixed and after standard finishing. Always run pilot trials under your specific process conditions.

How should Acid Red 336 be applied in a laboratory or production dye bath?

Use conventional acid dyeing procedures: acidified aqueous bath, controlled temperature ramp to the dyeing temperature for the fibre (e.g., ~85–95°C for wool/nylon), appropriate leveling agents and pH control. Exact recipe (pH, temperature ramp, auxiliaries) should be optimized per fibre and equipment.

Is Acid Red 336 soluble in common solvents and what about pH behaviour?

The dye is water-soluble (gives wine-red aqueous solutions) and shows characteristic colour changes in strong acids/bases (different tones in concentrated sulfuric acid or strong alkali). Solubility and tone shift are reported in supplier datasheets — handle concentrates and powder with standard precautions.

Are there environmental or safety considerations when using Acid Red 336?

As with many azo acid dyes, follow standard industrial safety (dust control, PPE) and waste management practices. Consult the product MSDS for breakdown, biodegradability and regulatory details; some azo dyes require special wastewater treatment or monitoring depending on local discharge rules.
