Applications & recommended dosing

Case study

A paving contractor replaced an organic orange dye with our iron oxide orange for a high-traffic outdoor plaza. After 18 months the color retention exceeded expectations with no significant fading. Contact our technical team for full test results.

Frequently asked questions

What grades of iron oxide orange are available and which is best for exterior paints?

We supply technical, construction, and artist grades. For exterior paints choose a high lightfastness technical grade with particle size D50 ~ 1–2 µm and low oil absorption for better dispersion.

How do I calculate pigment dosage for concrete dyeing?

Typical dosage ranges 0.5–3% by weight of cementitious material depending on desired chroma. For consistent results we recommend lab trials at 0.5% increments and record cement & aggregate color.

What is the shelf life and storage recommendation for iron oxide orange powder?

Shelf life is typically 24 months if stored in a cool, dry place in sealed bags. Avoid moisture and direct sunlight; keep bags off the floor on pallets.

How does iron oxide orange compare to organic orange pigments for lightfastness?

Inorganic iron oxides are generally much more lightfast and weather-resistant than many organic orange dyes, making them preferable for outdoor applications.
