What is a UV absorber and how does it differ from HALS?

UV absorbers absorb incoming UV radiation and dissipate it as low-grade heat; HALS (hindered amine light stabilizers) do not absorb UV but interrupt degradation chain reactions by scavenging radicals. Combining UVA + HALS often gives superior long-term protection.

How much UV absorber should I add to a plastic formulation?

Typical ranges: 0.05%–1.0% for plastics and 0.5%–2.0% for coatings — exact dose depends on polymer, thickness, pigment load and exposure. We provide tailored dosing recommendations after reviewing formulation details.

Are all UV absorbers heat-stable enough for extrusion?
